2012 workshops program
Semester One
A series of ‘hands-on’ one & two day workshops for the Textile Artist / Designer. Some of these workshops explore the methodology for mixing & using ‘Landscape Acid Dyes’ and Procion MX for dyeing cellulose fibres. These are with tutor DAWNA RICHARDSON-HYDE from Stoneshadows Studio (ex Box Hill Tafe).
We also have TWO GUEST TUTORS: JANE A SASSAMAN, American quilt maker as a guest tutor in April & MARIE-TERESE WISNIOWSKI from Art Quill Studio in Canberra who works with Sublimation Dyes as guest tutor in May.
As our workshop establishes itself we will introduce guest tutors throughout the year, interspaced with our regular tutors. Our aim is to provide a stimulating and supportive environment for the exchange of knowledge, expertise and ideas. The dye workshops explore a range of mixing techniques and various applications for dyes. Comprehensive workshop notes are provided to participants, which clearly document all processes covered in the workshop, including a step by step approach with written exercises & results sheets to record the dye experiments for future duplication. These workshops aim to create an invaluable dye resource for participants, with test samples for students to take home, as well as finished pieces of dyed fabric, where applicable. The workshops will assist the participant to better understand & apply dyes.
